Fall2024PhotoWalkWorkshipFlyerFWFall2024PhotoWalkWorkshipFlyerFW

I will be returning this fall for a visit to the home of my love for nature and landscape photography - Hocking Hills State Park in the foothills of the Appalachian foothills in Southeastern Ohio - to lead and teach a photo walk workshop on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 8 AM to 4 PM.

This workshop will be conducted as a "photo walk" along my favorite trails amongst the woodlands, waterfalls, and haunting light of autumn of Hocking Hills. Unlike my previous photography workshops, this program WILL NOT include a classroom component on digital editing. The emphasis will be on field instruction and image capture.

All levels of skill are welcomed, but it is recommended that participants have a tripod and a camera with close-up/macro capabilities. A fair amount of hiking will also be involved throughout the day, including some pretty steep ascents and descents in and out of the sandstone gorges. The total number of miles hiked during the photo walk could be up to six.

Wet weather will be welcomed, and you'll see how and why it can be a photographer's best friend, especially with fall nature subjects in this beautiful area of the Appalachian foothills.

I will assist participants in learning to see as artists and how to "work a scene" rather than chasing the common snapshots that most visitors to Hocking Hills leave with.

There will be a break for lunch. However, meals are not included in the price.

The cost is $100 per person, payable on the morning of the photo walk workshop. You can pay in cash, check, or Venmo.

To maintain the quality of the instruction, I will limit the group size to the first 15 people who register and then begin a waitlist in case of cancellations.

To register, email jim@jimcrotty or message me on this page. I need your name, email, and phone number.

As we approach November 2nd, I will distribute the schedule for the day and tell you where to meet at the beginning of the photo walk workshop.

I have been photographing Hocking Hills since my first visit 44 years ago! May has been the month that has delivered my most stunning images. Join me on November 2nd to see why!

Presentations to Schools, Clubs and Corporate Organizations

I've presented my work and my creative vision to various groups over the last four years, including many schools, camera clubs and professional organizations. I have a very relaxed style, incorporating a fair amount of story telling about my many experiences photographing in the field and for a wide variety of clients as well as what it took to overcome some personal obstacles and challenges to finally being on the right path with my life and my artistic vision.

I like to have fun with my presentations, but most important of all, I like to inspire and motivate my audience to follow their own dreams and goals in life as well as develop and integrate creative vision in all that they do. Obviously my presentations are geared toward the showing of my photographic images. I use select photographs, via both large format, mounted prints as well as audio-visual digital slide presentations through a MacBook Pro and projector, that best illustrate a particular photographic technique as well as those that communicate my unique creative vision and approach toward life.

I adjust my presentation style and material according to the select audience I'm scheduled to speak to, such as "how I got involved with photography" for school groups or "Finding the Light: More Than Just a Photographer" for social and corporate organizations.

Fees for presentations are based on intended audience, time required, travel and hand-out materials. Fees can vary based on whether the organization is a non-profit or profit. I retain the right to donate presentation time to select non-profit and educational organizations. Please call 937-477-9324 or email to learn more about how my presentations can enhance your classroom or organizational meeting. Please schedule at least three months in advance.
